LiftTrainer: The Process

The LiftTrainer is brought to your facility where it is set up in an out of the way quiet location that is suitable for holding a pre-shift meeting. Because the LiftTrainer is designed to mimic your warehouse experience, an empty slot usually works just fine.

Once the equipment is set up (original set-up takes 1-2 hours, subsequent times 15 minutes) each employee checks in for training. Each employee is setup with a  series of markers that allow the computer to “see” his movement.

Baseline Testing begins…each employee has his own method of lifting. We simply let him do his own thing as the computer collects his data.  We are then able to analyze his own individual lifting technique. Specifically we are looking at the amount of torque that is created during each phase of the lifting process.

Training Begins…armed with the information we just captured. We then begin to offer coaching advice to help minimize the forces that are robbing each employee of valuable time and effort.  Real-time  biofeedback is used so that each employee can “hear” their progress. High Tones mean high forces and Low Tones mean low forces. Graphs are also created showing the peak forces of each lift. These graphs become invaluable as training feedback. This is where behavior modification begins to take shape. Reinforcing the proper lifting technique adds to the ongoing effectiveness of the LiftTrainer Program. Training can be accomplished with any item in your warehouse, the most commonly lifted item generally works best. In the Upgraded Program the LiftTrainer Service team will do a walk-through and browse your product movement reports for the items that would provide the most benefit.

Upon completing the training process each employee is briefed on their progress, their retention level, and their areas that may need continued improvement. At this point an appointment may be made for additional training. And “homework” may be given to enhance the LiftTrainer experience. Take home documents provide an extra incentive for behavior modification. We have also found that they enhance the retention of learning that was accomplished during the training phase of the program

The entire process should take approximately 30 minutes per person depending on the amount of training necessary. Results are maintained from session to session so that progress can be tracked and recorded.
